Been trying to give myself a crash course in the history of philosophy recently. One most valuable resource has been the following series, splendidly presented by Bryan Magee, originally broadcast I believe in 1987 and available again via youtube and the commendable efforts of "flame0430", to whom many thanks. There are some technical issues (picture and sound synchronisation, in particular) but for a clear but unpatronising exploration of a huge body of thought they're wonderful.
